There’s exciting news from the medical world. Scientists say a baby born with the Aids virus appears to have been cured. There is a Massachusetts connection to the announcement. Katherine Luzuriaga, UMass doctor, was part of the announcement. The announcement was made in Atlanta, but the baby was born in Mississippi. The baby was born with full-blown HIV. The doctors gave the baby a drug cocktail wjhen the baby was within 30 hours old. They kept the baby on the regiment, which was then stopped 18 months ago. The baby came back in for a scheduled checkup, and, amazingly, she had no signs of the HIV virus when she came back in. (read more here)
