My kids get WAY too much SCREEN TIME and eat WAY too many "treats". So I had to put an end to both.

Here's the deal, my son springs out of bed at 6am, gets dressed and races downstairs to plug in.  When we ask him to shut the computer or turn off the tv, he throws an EPIC fit!  He also turns into this jumping bean that can't seem to settle down. It's very unnerving and not good for him (or any of us in the house).

We've also grown accustomed to "treats". We didn't have much sugar in our house growing up.  So what did I do? I'd go to my friend's house and raid their pantry for anything sweet that I couldn't get at home.  I didn't want to do that to my own children.  I was thinking "everything in moderation, right"?  Moderation went out the window at some point.  My kids expect a treat as soon as they come home from school and again after dinner (dessert). They also want the cookie at the grocery store, the samples at costco, sweet cece's after a great day at school etc.  Childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes is at an all time high.  We have to do something about this.

Again, I take full blame.  These little people only understand what you teach them.  I guess the lesson was lost somewhere.  So now we have to rewind and start from the beginning.  No TV during the week and all of the sweets have been removed from the house. Dessert will be fruit and there will be no debates.

Am I being too harsh?  Any/all advice is welcome.  It takes a village and you're mine.
